beth Meyer Joins Adamah, The Largest Jewish Environmental Organization in North America

“You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it." - Pirkei Avot 2:16
At their January 2026 meeting, the Board of Trustees of Beth Meyer Synagogue voted unanimously to join Adamah, the largest Jewish environmental organization in North America. As a member of the Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition of Adamah, Beth Meyer Synagogue joins over 500 Jewish organizations in the US and other countries who recognize the urgency of climate change and commit to taking action.
Coalition membership provides community, gentle accountability, and resources to support meaningful climate action. Membership begins by submitting a climate action plan for the organization, and then, with the help of Adamah and the Coalition, implementing the plan.
This effort is being led by congregants Jeff Engel, Madge Cohen, and Anya Gordon, and greatly facilitated by a Trustee liaison, Rick Kane. Joining Adamah will catalyze change in many areas of the Beth Meyer campus including improving indoor temperature management of the two buildings, exploring green energy sources, and waste management. More information is available on the Adamah website, or by emailing Jeff Engel, Madge Cohen, and Anya Gordon.
