"It is a Tree of Life to those who grasp it, and all who uphold it are blessed. Its ways are pleasantness and all its paths are peace."

In May of 2016, we lost our beloved son, Ricky Horwitz. In tribute, we have chosen to dedicate this Tree of Life.

Ricky, born and raised in Raleigh, was a fourth-generation member of Beth Meyer Synagogue. He had a true passion for this community. He was an incredible, selfless person, who would drop everything to help anyone in need - whether it be family or friends.

Ricky was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother and friend. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.

-Michele and Burton Horwitz

This Tree of Life gives all who wish, an opportunity to celebrate life's blessings in perpetuity by inscribing them on one of its beautiful leaves.
Contributions to the Tree will help support an endowment for education, established by Michele and Burton Horwitz and family, that will grow and bear fruit for generations to come.

Celebrate your Simcha - Weddings, Births, Anniversaries, Graduations, B'nai Mitzvah, Milestones

Honor someone you love - Children, Parents, Families, Friends, Teachers, Communities , Organizations

Given that the tree is designed to be celebratory, tributes can be made in someone's memory by using an inscription such as "In celebration of the life of ..." or " Honoring the life of ... " without reference to dates of birth and death or use of "In memory of."  (There are other opportunities for memorial tributes at Beth Meyer including  yahrzeit or seat plaques, and  walkway bricks.)

Each brass leaf is available for a $200 donation to the Burton and Michele Horwitz & Family Education Endowment at Beth Meyer Synagogue. Rocks are available for a $1000 donation.
