Our Honoree

Amy Ripps is an educator, lay leader, meal organizer, behind-the-scenes planner, connection-maker, community leader, mentor, friend, family member, and so much more. We know how many lives she has touched and in how many ways. We hope you will join us as we celebrate her amazing contributions to our community. 

 

Our Scholar

Professor Richard Freund, leading archaeologist and Jewish Studies Scholar, will be our guest scholar-in-residence. Professor Freund has directed over a dozen archaeological projects in Israel, including sites associated with the beginnings of Christianity and Judaism at Nazareth, Bethsaida, and Qumran, the site of the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls. His work is featured in 20 television documentaries from National Geographic, CNN, Discovery, History Channel and PBS. His most recent work in Lithuania has been chronicled in a recent NOVA episode: “Holocaust Escape Tunnel.”

Join us as we welcome Shabbat. Families, couples, singles, all are welcome. No cost, but registration is required. Space is limited, RSVP now!

Shabbat Morning Services, 9:30 a.m.
Amy Ripps will give the d'var Torah during morning services.

Havdalah & Desserts, 8 p.m.
The celebration continues. Havdalah, desserts & a short talk with Dr. Richard Freund on Shabbat and Archaeology. RSVPs required.

Sunday, March 27
Sunday Morning Brunch, 10 a.m.
Dr. Richard Freund presents "Finding the Great Synagogue of Vilna." Join us in-person or on Zoom. Registration required.


Ways to Contribute

There are no fees for any of our weekend events. However, donations in any amount in honor of Amy are welcome. To make a general donation to BMS, click here. To donate to a specific fund, click here. All donations will be acknowledged in an upcoming publication.

We will also be selling Dr. Freund's books at our events on Saturday night and Sunday morning. He is graciously donating a portion of the proceeds back to Beth Meyer in Amy's honor.
