Genizah Burial for Books and Sacred Objects
Sunday, March 26, 2023 • 4 Nisan 5783
11:00 AM - 12:00 PMCourtyardThe entire Beth Meyer community is invited to a ceremony to say goodbye to books and sacred objects that have served us so well. Just as Jewish tradition bids us to bury the deceased with reverence, so does our tradition tell us to deal respectfully with “dead” books – books that can no longer be used. Along with the items already stored in our Genizah, congregants are invited to bring personal items that are ready to be buried. We’ll begin in the courtyard and walk to the burial site on our campus together.
