Our spring session of high school classes begins on Sunday, Feb. 23. Explore Talmud, listen to Jews by Choice share their individual journeys to Judaism, dig into creative writing, and view current events through a Jewish lens. All teens welcome, Beth Meyer membership not required.

Spring Session classes include:

Perek Alef (12:20-1:10 p.m.)

No Intro Needed — Jump Into Talmud
The best “intro to Talmud” is simply reading Talmud. In this course, we will read a daf in each class starting with Berakhot 2 on the first day of class. What’s the big deal about Talmud? Join and see! Taught by Mike Wagner.

Choosing to Be Chosen
Although Judaism is not a proselytizing religion, people have been converting to Judaism since biblical times. The reasons for conversion then were varied — and they still are today. This class is a series of conversations with Beth Meyer Jews by Choice about their individual journeys to Judaism. Facilitated by Deborah Goldstein.

Perek Bet (1:10-2:00 p.m.)

Creative Writing: Sharing Jewish Stories
The written word can be a powerful tool to explore and express ourselves, as well as a great deal of fun! This class will explore fiction, memoir, and poetry as we use creative writing techniques to tell our Jewish journeys and connect with our spiritual selves. Come prepared to read, write, and share as we connect with the joy of writing outside of the English classroom — no red pens allowed! Taught by Allison Mitteer.

Hot Topics
From CNN to Instagram and TikTok, keeping up with current events and processing what we learn can be a challenge! We’ll tackle whatever topics are affecting the country and view those issues through a Jewish lens. Taught by Ira Planer.
