The Winter Session consists of three weeks of classes with Rabbi Eric and Rabbi Jenny, followed by the Teen Israel Leadership Institute, and an opportunity to learn with Dayenu, a Jewish organization dedicated to battling climate change. No class choices required; all attendees have the same schedule. Cost is $72 for members/$90 for non-members.

Jan. 5, 12 & 26 will be classes with Rabbi Eric and Rabbi Jenny, including:

“Rabbi, Should I Tuck Away My Jewish Star Necklace?”
Join Rabbi Eric Solomon for a conversation about the complexities and challenges of maintaining a public Jewish identity in a time of adversity. What are some of the current issues our community faces, and what can we learn from Abraham, Moses and Esther about how they kept their Jewish pride under difficult circumstances?

Pirkei Avot: There’s Real Wisdom in There!
Pirkei Avot (Ethics of our Ancestors) offers valuable lessons on leadership, interpersonal relationships, spiritual growth, and more. Join Rabbi Jenny Solomon on a journey through this amazing text. If there is a “Top 10” we’ll find it and dive into ways we can use these valuable lessons in our daily lives.

Feb. 2: Teen Israel Leadership Institute

Facilitated by the Center for Israel Education, this special program is open to all 10th-12th grade students in the Triangle area and is co-hosted with Beth El Synagogue. There is a separate registration for teens who would like to attend this event as a stand-alone program. Teens who work in the religious school as madrikhim are expected to attend all classes in the Winter Session.

Feb. 9: Dayenu: A Jewish Call to Climate Action

We cannot be indifferent nor deny the Climate Crisis. As Jews, we are compelled to act, as our ancestors did when facing extinction, with courageous action. Raleigh’s Dayenu Circle will empower students with ‘Climate Action tools’ to address our heating planet earth. We will briefly describe the Climate Crisis facts so that we all realize how we are impacted. This information will be enhanced by engaging participants in meaningful and fun ways. The presentation will conclude with the good news that solutions exist and are being implemented now to reverse our heating planet. The Renewable Energy transition is happening — and we are all invited to participate.

Sorry, Registration has ended.
