10:00 AM - 11:00 AMConference Room and Zoom

We know you want to learn more about yourself, your history, and heritage. We also know you’re busy. Like really busy. Head back to school with our enriching, Jewish U. (You) drop-in classes — perfect for the busiest of folks.

On Passover, we are commanded to tell the story of our Exodus and to see ourselves as having lived through that story, so that we may better learn how to live our lives today. The stories we tell our children (and ourselves) shape what they believe to be possible — which is why at Passover, we must tell the stories of the women whose leadership and bravery made our journey to liberation possible. Collectively, these women — Yokheved, Miriam, Shifra, Puah, and Batya — had a vision leading out of the darkness shrouding their world. They were women of action, prepared to defy authority to make their vision a reality. But much of these women's lives and voices is ignored within the classical body of rabbinic literature. In this drop-in class led by Rabbi Jenny, we will explore several NEW midrashim (Jewish stories/legends) written by modern Jewish women scholars who creatively and skillfully bring these courageous figures into the light with complexity, warmth, and wisdom. This class is a great way to spiritually prepare for the Passover Seder and will enable you to bring new text, ideas, and meaning to your ritual table.
