Life is full of decision-making that relates to balancing our ethical obligations to different groups. For instance, where should I donate the bulk of my time, money, and energies — to causes within my community or to causes that affect others? And why? What happens when my responsibilities to others and to my own community come into conflict? What happens if I cannot fulfill both simply due to finite resources? How can we navigate between universal and communal ethical commitments? In this class with Rabbi Eric Solomon, we will address our obligations and the dilemmas that sometimes arise from them.
