Sisterhood is sponsoring a book club for the entire Beth Meyer community on the third Monday of the month.
NEW date! January 26: The Lost Shtetl by Max Gross. A debut novel — written with the imagination of Michael Chabon and the humor of Gary Shteyngart — about a small Jewish village in the Polish forest that is so secluded no one knows it exists... until now.
February 16: The Lost Baker of Vienna by Sharon Kurtzman. An historical novel inspired by the experiences of the author’s own family after the Holocaust, a sweeping saga about survival, loss, love, and the reverberating effects of war.
March 16: Kissing Girls on Shabbat by Sara Glass. A moving coming-of-age memoir in the vein of Unorthodox and Educated, about one young woman’s desperate attempt to protect her children and family while also embracing her queer identity in a controlling Hasidic community.
April 27: We Would Never by Tova Mirvis. Inspired by a true story, We Would Never is “an intellectual mystery—part whodunit, part whydunit, and heavy on the complexities of family dynamics, asking: How far would you go to protect those you love?” (The Boston Globe).
May 18: Eternal Life by Dara Horn. Gripping, hilarious, and profoundly moving, Eternal Life celebrates the bonds between generations, the power of faith, the purpose of death, and the reasons for being alive.
Please contact Dara with any questions.
